Belleville Lions Club Presents
2011 Concerts on the Bay

Lions and C.N.I.B.

The Belleville Lions Club was founded in 1953 and, through the ensuing years, has built a proud legacy in its local community. Lionism was founded in 1917 by Melvin Jones, a Chicago business man. Presently, Lions Clubs International encompasses more than 44,000 clubs, with close to 1.4 million members in 177 countries. Imagine 1,400,000 volunteers whose motto "We Serve" describes, in simple language, what Lionism is all about.

Lion's and C.N.I.B. Connection

Lions and the C.N.I.B. (Canadian National Institute for the Blind) have developed a unique partnership program to provide assistance to blind and visually impaired individuals.

Knights of the Blind

Lionism most significant work resulted from Helen Keller's speech at the 1925 International Convention, when she challenged Lions to take up the cause of the visually handicapped by becoming "KNIGHTS OF THE BLIND" in the crusade against darkness. Lions took up that challenge and since that time have assisted the visually impaired in virtually every corner of the world. The Belleville Lions Club provides support in many ways - collecting used eyeglasses for shipment to third world countries; financial assistance to C.N.I.B. Lake Joseph Centre; providing seeing eye dogs; transporting and supporting the local White Cane Club; supporting C.N.I.B.

You Can Help!

If you would like to help, a donation box will be available at each concert. Every cent donated will go directly to Lions/C.N.I.B. Sight Enhancement Centre. Bring your used glasses. Lions collect and distribute used eyeglasses to third world countries.
